Ledgerwood Coffee
A corner coffee house with one roaster, a long table, and pastry that runs out by two.
Monday – Friday — 6:00 – 15:00 · 9 Example Street
Ledgerwood is a corner room with fourteen seats, a long table down the middle that nobody owns, and a bench in the window that gets the sun until about ten. We open at six for the people who are working before everyone else and we close at three, because a coffee house that stays open late stops being a coffee house.

We roast on a small drum roaster in the back twice a week, and we only ever have three coffees on: a house blend that does not change much, a single origin that changes every few weeks, and a decaf we actually taste before we buy. Everything is dated on the bag. If a bag is more than three weeks off the roast we grind it for staff and you get the fresh one.
The pastry comes out of our own oven from four in the morning and it is finished when it is finished — usually early afternoon, sometimes by noon on a Saturday. We would rather run out than hold something over. The savoury side of the counter is small on purpose: two toasties, a soup, and whatever the kitchen made too much of yesterday, sold cheap.
We have free wifi and eight outlets and we do not put a time limit on either, but the long table is shared and we will seat someone next to you. Dogs are welcome on the floor. We take orders to go in your own cup at a discount, and if you forget it, ask about the mug library — leave a deposit, bring it back whenever.
We sell beans by the bag at the counter and we will grind them to whatever you brew on, free, if you tell us the method. If you are not sure what you like, ask for a taste of whatever is on filter before you commit to twelve ounces of it. Nobody should spend twenty dollars on coffee they have never tried.
Two of the small tables can be pushed together for a group of six, and we are happy to hold them if you call the day before. Beyond that we get crowded and everybody has a worse morning, so for anything larger we would rather set you up with a box of filter coffee to take away than squeeze you in.
