What we do

Halvorsen Electric is a three-van shop working across Duluth and the North Shore. Most of what we do is in houses built before 1960 — knob-and-tube left in the walls, two-prong outlets, panels that were adequate when a kitchen had one appliance in it and are not adequate now.

01

Fault finding

Half the house dark, a breaker that will not reset, a circuit that trips only when it rains. We find it before we quote the repair.

from $150 first hour

02

Panel replacement

Old fuse boxes and undersized panels swapped for a modern breaker panel, permitted and inspected. Usually one day, power off for about four hours.

from $2,400

03

Whole-house rewire

Knob-and-tube and cloth-insulated wiring taken out room by room, so you can stay in the house while we work.

Quoted per job

04

Outlets and switches

New outlets, replacements, grounding of two-prong sockets, dimmers and timers. Priced per point after the first.

from $95

05

Kitchen and bathroom circuits

Dedicated circuits for ranges, dishwashers and bathroom heaters, with the protection those rooms are required to have.

from $420

06

Lighting

Recessed lights, under-cabinet strips, replacing fixtures, and getting a switch to control what you actually want it to control.

from $130

07

Ceiling fans

Fitted to an existing box where the box will take the weight, and braced properly where it will not.

from $185

08

EV charger installation

Level 2 charger fitted, circuit run, and the panel checked to confirm it will carry the load before you buy the unit.

from $780

09

Generator hookup

Transfer switch fitted so you can run the house from a portable generator safely, without back-feeding the street.

from $950

10

Smoke and CO detectors

Hard-wired and interlinked across the house, so one alarm sounds them all. Priced per unit fitted.

from $110

11

Outdoor and yard wiring

Exterior outlets, security lighting, garage and shed supplies, run in conduit and rated for a Duluth winter.

from $240

12

Surge protection

A whole-house surge device at the panel. Cheaper than one replaced furnace board, and it takes an hour.

from $360

13

Pre-purchase electrical inspection

Two hours in a house you are thinking of buying, and a written report with photographs the same evening.

$275

14

Landlord safety check

Every circuit tested and certified, with the paperwork your insurer asks for. Per unit, discounted over four.

$210

15

Small jobs, one visit

The three little things you have been meaning to get done. One call-out, one hour, one price.

$165

About us

Who you are calling

We quote in writing before anything is opened up. If the job turns out smaller than we thought, the price comes down. If we find something behind the drywall that changes the work, we stop, photograph it, and call you before we carry on. Nobody likes a number that moves, so we would rather move it in front of you than at the end.

Every one of our electricians is licensed and insured in the state, and we pull the permit ourselves on any work that needs one. That means the inspection is our problem, not yours, and you get the signed-off paperwork by email when it passes. On a house sale, that folder is worth more than the work itself.

We keep two slots free every weekday for faults — no power to half the house, a breaker that will not stay in, a burning smell at an outlet. Those we treat as same-day. Anything involving heat, smoke or water near a panel, turn the main off and call us before you do anything else.

The estimate is free and it is done in person, because an electrical quote given over the phone is a guess. We will want to open the panel, look at what feeds it, and count what is already on the circuits before we put a number in writing. That visit takes half an hour and costs nothing whether you go ahead or not.

Everything we install carries a twelve-month workmanship guarantee on top of whatever the manufacturer gives you on the parts. If something we fitted stops working inside that year, we come back and we do not charge a call-out. It happens rarely, and when it does we would rather it be our problem than yours.

About this preview

This is an example. Here is the whole arrangement.

Openhouse builds a finished website for a local business, then shows the owner the result. No brief, no meetings, no quote to read. The page above is what that looks like when it is done — built for a business we invented, so that you can read a real one before you ask for yours.

Is Halvorsen Electric a real business?
No. The name, the address, the phone number, the hours and the prices above were all written by us for this example. There is nothing to visit and nobody to call. Every other site we build is for a real business, and those are not published until their owner says so.
Would my site look like this one?
It would be built the same way and to the same length, with your own words, your own prices and your own hours. The layout follows the trade — a barbershop's page is not laid out like an electrician's — and anything on it can be changed before you decide anything.
What happens the moment I pay?
The site goes live and we email you a link to your dashboard — that is where messages from your contact form land. Reply to that email with the domain name you want and we point it at your site within one business day. Don't own a domain? We register one, in your name.
And if I do nothing at all?
Nothing happens. No invoice, no card on file — we never see your card details, and we cannot charge one you have not entered. You can read this example for as long as you like without ever telling us who you are.
Who am I actually buying from?
Openhouse — we build finished websites for local businesses and show the owner the result. Write to contact@openhousesites.com and a person answers. The payment is taken by Sparkles Corp, the company that holds our payment account, so that is the name you will see on your statement. The whole agreement — what the price covers, the refund, who owns the site — is one page at openhousesites.com/terms.html.

What a site like this costs

$59a month, cancel any time. Everything listed below, live under your own domain. No setup fee, nothing to install — and you can pay once instead if you would rather own it outright.

A site this size, built for your business, then shown to you before you pay anything.

Finished first, paid for after The page above is finished and public at openhousesites.com/app/for/halvorsen-electric-duluth-mn. Yours is built the same way: we write it, we put it at an address like that one, and you look at the whole thing before any money changes hands. That is the part nobody else does.

  • The finished siteThe site exactly as you previewed it. Same pages, same words, same layout — nothing is held back for a higher tier.
  • Your content, your tradeYour services, your hours, your area served, and the pages your trade actually needs. Written out, not left as filler.
  • Mobile layoutEvery page composed narrow-screen first, because that is the screen your customers are holding.
  • A working contact formMessages from the form arrive in your email inbox. There is no dashboard to log into and no app to install.
  • SEO setupPage titles, meta descriptions and structured data, so search engines read what you do, where you are and when you are open.
  • Your domain, connectedWe connect a domain you already own. If you do not own one, we register one for you — in your name, and it is yours.
  • Hosting and SSL, 12 monthsCounted from the day the site is activated. No monthly fee in that first year. Nothing to cancel and nothing to forget.
  • One round of revisionsSend your changes in one go — words, photos, sections, the order of the whole thing — and we make them.

Or pay once, and be done $599 once — no monthly fee for 12 months. That is just over 10 months of the monthly plan, and twelve months at $59 a month come to $708 — so paying once is the cheaper of the two, and there is nothing left to cancel. Same site, same guarantee, either way.

14 days to change your mind — full refund, no reason required. One email to contact@openhousesites.com is enough — no form, no phone call, no questions about what went wrong.

Both doors open the same site — same pages, same guarantee. The monthly plan cancels any time with one email to contact@openhousesites.com, and the site stays up until the end of the month you have paid for. Pay once and there is nothing to cancel at all.

Secure payment by card. The charge shows as Sparkles Corp on your statement — that is the company that holds our payment account, and we say so before you click rather than after.
